A GLIMPSE OF CONVOCATION

IMI Bhubaneswar witnessed a landmark celebration, the 6th Annual Convocation on its magnificent campus on Saturday, November 3, 2018. The PGDM 2016-18 and PGDM (Part Time) 2014-17 batch of IMI-B were conferred upon the Post Graduate Diploma In Management.  Mr. T.V. Narendran the Global CEO and Managing Director of TATA Steel Limited delivered the convocation Speech as the Chief Guest of the event.

The convocation began with a majestic and grand academic procession leading towards the Convocation Hall. The ceremony was declared open by Mr. V C Agarwal, Group President HR and Management Board Member- RP Sanjeev Goenka Group, after the lighting of the lamp.

Mr. T.V. Narendran, the Honourable Chief Guest, presented the Gold Medal to Chandrapati Sesha Sai Padmakanth and Silver Medal to Paridhi Sharma for their outstanding performance in the PGDM batch 2016-18. Sudakshina Mukherji got Dr. Rama Prasad Goenka ‘Best Student Medal’ and Rishi Rajeev Jain received the Director’s medal for overall contribution to the institute. Professor Himadri Das, Director General of IMI Delhi awarded the certificates to the top five students of PGDM 2016-18 batch.

Mr. T.V. Narendran in the Convocation speech foremost congratulated the PGDM 2016-18 batch for conferring the degrees. He began his speech in a nostalgic timbre quoting “A lot has changed”. The world has changed a lot and only a person, who was born in 1970’s can discern it. He doesn’t feel shoddy about the change but he is happy, how the world is getting quicker and better day by day. He highlighted on four things which are important to be kept in mind while entering into the corporate world. The first one is Technology- The nature of competition is going so aggressive that the industry is getting disturbed, it is changing hastily. The second point is about sustainability, of how an investor’s opinion is associated with environmental factors. The third point he talked about was of inequality. How tough decisions get hamper due to GDP growth, inequality in terms of salaries and more factors. The last but not the least point is the dynamics of geopolitics. New complexities, new outcomes, economic deficits effect the strategies of the company. He ended his speech by saying- “Enjoy what you love and then nobody will ever be able to beat you “.

Director, Professor Ramesh Behl thanked more than 400 guests including the IMI-B family, students and the parents for making the graduating batch a successful reality. He highlighted the year’s achievements by the students and faculties in the field of Research Papers, Journals and Conferences. He also told about the new concept of Flexi Course which has been launched for the PGDM students, so that they can bridge the gap between the corporate world and theoretical learning.

The key learnings of professional carrer were addressed by Mr. V C Agarwal, Group President HR and Management Board Member- RP Sanjeev Goenka Group. The key to live is not to carry baggage of the past to get a long term success. He also shared some valuable thoughts and aspects on the positives and negatives of the life.

The Mr. V C Agarwal, Group President HR and Management Board Member- RP Sanjeev Goenka Group thereafter declared the convocation closed, to proceed with the Convocation procession followed by the National Song sung by the students and audience of the event.

The propitious day will forever be etched in IMI-B family and guests enjoyed a lavish lunch hosted to mark this spectacular milestone in IMI B’s history
