A Glimpse of “Entrepreneurship Bootcamp” at IMIB.

The PGDM batch of 2020-22 at IMI Bhubaneswar experienced a two-day ‘Entrepreneurship Bootcamp’ on August 27-28th, 2020. The students of IMI Bhubaneswar got the opportunity to witness an enriching discussion where several Industry experts, Business Gurus, Entrepreneurs including faculty members were present to inspire the students by showcasing them the tools and techniques they have used to achieve success in their fruitful carriers. 

The speakers on Day 1 were: Prof. Ramesh Behl, Director-IMI Bhubaneswar; Shri Reghu G., IAS, Director of Industries, Odisha; Shri Pramod Sharma, (Ex-CIO and VP, ADAG Group and team member at Cogniticx) and Mr Subhabrata Bhattacharjee(NEN, Wadhwani Foundation).

In the inaugural session Prof. Ramesh Behl, Director - IMI, Bhubaneswar, welcomed all the participants, faculty members and the Guest of honours- Shri Reghu G. and Shri Pramod Sharma Ji. He emphasized on the view that “success requires motivation” and every entrepreneur must hold onto their vision. “Persistence” is the key. The keynote speakers also talked about “Entrepreneurship” and its importance in our society.

While talking about “Entrepreneurship” and its increasing opportunities across India and abroad, these esteemed speakers shared their valuable experiences and put emphasis on the importance of being “proactive” and “agile” during the time of a crisis like today’s covid19 pandemic and also they shed light on how technology plays a vital role in forecasting uncertainty and smooth functioning of any businesses. Throughout the session, the students were kept engaged by participating in various workshops focusing on “Design Thinking”, “Business Models”, “Lean Methodology” and “Developing an Entrepreneurial Mindset”. They also gave a lot of valuable insights pertaining to “Funds for starting one’s business”, “Startup Odissa” and various government schemes and policies. There were many ice-breaking activities as well.

Day 2 of the “Entrepreneurship Orientation Programme” session was inaugurated by Prof. Devesh Baid(Faculty-Finance & Economics), followed by Prof. Kapil Pandla(Faculty-Communication, OB & HR)  and guest speakers- Shri Prasanta Biswal(Head, Startup Odisha) and Mr Barada Panigrahy(Director, Sri Sri Innovation) providing valuable insights pertaining to “Idea Generation”, “Achievement & Motivation”, conducting a  lot of engaging and interactive Bootcamp activities, sharing views on “Startup Ecosystem” and “Idea Evaluation Techniques” with the students.

The students of IMI Bhubaneswar found both the sessions on Entrepreneurship Bootcamp motivational, informative, exciting and fruitful. We hope these esteemed speakers have definitely ignited their entrepreneurial mindsets and gave them the right path to achieve their future endeavours to turn their passion into their favoured profession. Last but not the least, it has been rightly concluded in the boot camp that ‘An Entrepreneur is a person who with the help of ideas builds a business venture and embrace every opportunities and difficulties and they overcome all the adversities to turn their businesses into a successful venture.’
