The Business Thought Leadership
Series is the first opportunity for students to get insights into the corporate world through the experiences of leading experts. And this time the engaging
Corporate Talk held on 22nd June was conducted by none other than
Mr Sandeep Chatterjee, Director, Deloitte India.
'The New World' was the theme of his
talk in keeping with present times. Right at the onset, Mr Chatterjee offered
an overview of the current business climate and focused on topics including the general sentiment of consumer’s buying preference, retail environment,
transportation and travel. He also offered a light of hope as he acquainted
students with new opportunities that these times have presented us with.
“This is not the first crisis that
we have faced, and of course this is not the end. But every crisis offers an
opportunity. We need to learn how to respond to the crisis. Organizations can
learn to recover from it, and be more adaptable to the new normal,” said Mr.
Chatterjee. He also believed that during the time of the pandemic consumers
have had to rely on trusted brands while increasing their overall household
expenditure.
It’s this trust of consumers that
remain vital in the competitive market. As Mr Chatterjee explained the DNA of
organizations, he shed light on factors that make companies stand out from the
rest. “Purpose, Perspective, and Alignment with other actors are factors that
contribute to an organization’s success,” he added. He followed up the view
with the example of Amul India, which has turned the crisis into an opportunity
and stood strong during the pandemic.
The talk turned out to be a
Masterclass in business insights and strategy for future management
professionals. In fact, Mr Chatterjee also asserted that strategy and
execution go hand in hand before offering a key tip for the future in the new
world. “Don’t neglect technology, learn about technology, and appreciate the
technology,” were his strong concluding words that resonated with students
looking ahead to a promising, technology-driven new world.
