IMI Bhubaneswar: Diwali 2021

Diwali celebrations at IMI Bhubaneswar

Deepavali or Diwali is the grand festival of lights celebrated by the Indian community throughout India and the world. It is that time of the year where family, friends, and community gather to rejoice in the festivities together. IMI BHUBANESWAR celebrated Diwali on its campus this year, maintaining Covid protocols strictly. The cultural committee’s efforts were commendable who decided to organize the whole event within stipulated time and along with E-CELL committee who came up with the unique idea of conducting ‘Student Haat’.

imi bhubaneswarA day before the eve of Diwali, the E-CELL committee came up with this small entrepreneur event wherein students put up various stalls of famous street foods (like momo, maggi, sandwich, pasta), Candle and diya stalls, etc. From chopping, grating, decorating, cooking, serving everything was done by the students. This initiative gave the student an exposure towards being an entrepreneur for a day wherein students were the shopkeeper and rest were customers. Fun, right? But we didn’t stop here.

Next day, on eve of Diwali, the institute was lit up with fairy lights and diyas all over the campus. For many students, it was their first time away from home. But the Cult Committee made sure we get to enjoy every moment in the campus, despite being away from family. The evening started with Ganesh Puja and aarti. All the students were beautifully dressed up in ethnic wear, gathered around the reception area for the aarti. After the ritual was over, the main event began in the amphitheatre. The whole place was decorated with colorful handcrafted lanterns. Students actively took part in singing, dancing, reciting which transformed the whole ambience into a casual party vibe. Skies filled up with beautiful lanterns of vibrant colors at the end of the day, carrying so many hopes, dreams and wishes of each student (Our students made sure we celebrate eco-friendly Diwali)

The night ended with a scrumptious dinner. It wasn’t the usual hostel meal. Menu included Khichdi, sweets, puri, alu Dum and so on. Students were delighted to have home-like food, which was certainly nostalgic.

 Lastly,

IMI Bhubaneswar wishes you all a Happy Diwali !
